I was young then when your name bangs in the history of our native land. “Rebel Leader Captured!” My young mind did not understand it but the things happened after your release (from government custody) matters most. Your name became known to many poor individuals in our province because you continue the noble fight for the weak and unprivileged.
You are one of those few young men with eyes opened on what is happening in our province where the poor continues to become poorer and the rich becomes richer. Would there be any person who can, through their own capacity and willingness, attempt to change the land’s unfair condition? But you have tried, you have tried much even in very simple ways. You never stopped and even the caused why you are no longer with us is your untiring braveness for changes. With little knowledge I gathered about you through the years, I believed you made a difference. May be the changes you made are not huge for many but it is worthy. It worth more than a piece of paper, more than a simple thank you, more than a touch to a tired shoulder, more than the price for a piece of land, more than the cost of rubbish misunderstandings between people, more than the attitude, it’s more than life…It is more than a cause.
You have left us but your courageous will and determination for “change” will continue. It will pour out from the heart of many. Maybe not in my time, maybe not in the time of my children, maybe not in my blood but I believed in time of those who understands and believes you, it will continue and will never end…”at ang tunay na pagbabago ay makakamtan din nang ating lupang sinilangan”. We salute you “Ka Pepe!”22nd of April 2009
